Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy

The energy paradigm is undergoing a profound transformation, shifting from a centralised generation model—concentrated in a limited number of production facilities—to a distributed generation model, located as close as possible to the point of use.

Yesterday’s Energy
Centralised, predictable and one‑way
Tomorrow’s Energy
Distributed, intermittent and two‑way

Interporto Bologna’s Commitment

Interporto Bologna S.p.A. is pursuing an ambitious pathway towards energy sustainability. A range of initiatives is currently under development with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of the entire interport area.

Our public commitment to sustainability is being translated into concrete and transparent actions, guided by ambitious objectives that will enable Interporto Bologna to evolve into an innovative energy hub.

Key objectives include:

Towards Distributed Generation

This new and continuously evolving paradigm is defined by the emergence of “self‑sufficient islands”, which will progressively reduce distribution costs across the national electricity grid.

Interporto Bologna S.p.A. will actively contribute to this transition through:

The creation of a Collective Self‑Consumption Group within the freight village area, enabling shared energy production and consumption among on‑site users.

The establishment of a Renewable Energy Community (REC), extending participation to the surrounding local area and fostering energy sharing and territorial integration.

Energy Sharing and Social Benefits

The energy generated by the photovoltaic systems will be fed into the grid and simultaneously consumed by the members of the Collective Self‑Consumption Group or the Renewable Energy Community. This model will promote the sharing of renewable energy within the freight village and the surrounding territories, fostering collaboration between producers and consumers.

The incentives generated will be largely allocated to social initiatives, with the objective of creating economic, social and environmental benefits for the community.
