With a rail area covering 665,000 square metres, an internal railway station and three rail terminals, Interporto Bologna is at the forefront of promoting and facilitating the use of rail services at European level and in intermodal transport, acting as an effective integrator of road‑rail services.

Thanks to funding from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and FSC funds, further expansion of the rail area is currently under way. By the end of 2026, an additional 115,000 square metres will be available, including 80,000 square metres of storage space, five 750‑metre‑long tracks—in line with European standards—and two gantry cranes.

Situated at the crossroads of an extensive European rail network, the hub benefits from a strategic location along the three TEN‑T corridors, the new Gotthard rail axis and the Adriatic P400 line.

Interporto Bologna offers a comprehensive range of transport solutions, including door‑to‑door, terminal‑to‑terminal and door‑to‑terminal services, seamlessly integrating road and rail transport. Additional services include goods tracking, weighing, transport unit repairs, transhipment operations, fumigation, container hire, agency services and access to connected warehouse facilities.

With a focus on synergistic cooperation, the hub serves companies, freight forwarders and hauliers, ensuring cost‑effectiveness, punctuality and speed, while supporting strict adherence to schedules and a reduction in environmental impact.
