The 2022-2026 Strategic Plan of Interporto Bologna SpA, fifty years after its foundation, is part of a general economic scenario made highly uncertain and complex by the continuing health pandemic.
In the case of Interporto Bologna, a true logistics city and one of the largest logistics platforms in Europe, the significant increase in rail freight traffic both in 2020 and in the first half of 2021 indicate that the railway terminals in Interporto are a strategic node in the transport system, not only in the region, but also nationally and internationally.
In addition to the growth in rail traffic, there are also numerous requests for space for new warehouses, which have not diminished even during the most acute phase of the pandemic. This is a sign that the vast Bolognese area, and the freight village in particular, is a strategic location choice for many logistics companies.
The five-year Strategic Plan therefore focuses on a specific objective of transforming Interporto Bologna SpA into a service company centred on three business areas: 1) Real Estate, understood as a sector where the management of owned real estate will prevail over the sale of infrastructural land; 2) Facility Management & Maintenance, focused on a wide and varied range of services for the companies located and the people who work there; 3) Intermodal railway services and wagon maintenance, focused on transport, shunting, handling and shunting in the three terminals present in the infrastructure.
The next five years will therefore represent a crucial period for Interporto Bologna SpA in its path of eco-sustainable growth.
