In January 2023, the traffic recorded at the Bologna Freight Village was down especially on the truck side.
Compared to the same period of last year, in fact, about 20,000 fewer trucks passed through the infrastructure, a decrease of 14%, which on an economic level, i.e. compared to the month of December 2022, becomes more marked and equal to 17%. This result is expected as the logistics peak at the end of the year to cope with pre-Christmas activities returns to standard levels at the beginning of the following year.
At the railway level, a slightly contracting picture emerges in line with the trend in transport demand that is being recorded at national and European level, also due to uncertainty about economic trends.
A slight decrease in the number of trains is associated with a substantial stability in the number of wagons, showing that, one year on, longer trains have begun to pass through the Bologna Freight Village.
