The railway network of the Bologna Freight Village is enriched with a new connection between northern and southern Italy. The Bologna - Jesi - Brindisi train is operated by GTS, a private Bari-based intermodal rail freight operator, and will have 2 circulations per week on the Brindisi - Jesi route, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the Jesi - Bologna route will have 1 circulation, departing on Fridays from Jesi and Saturdays from Bologna. This makes it possible to reach central and northern Europe from Bologna, while from Brindisi it opens up connections by sea to Greece, Turkey and Albania.
This new route will take 8,000 trucks a year off the road, with considerable savings in terms of CO2 emissions and fuel.
"More and more operators are choosing Interporto Bologna as a base for their rail traffic and we are proud of it," comments Giuseppe Dall'Asta, Director of Interporto Bologna SpA.
