Ongoing efforts to improve the quality of services within the Bologna Freight Village will soon take another step forward with the creation of a "Safe Parking Area for Truck Drivers".
The project arose from the need to equip the infrastructure with an innovative and efficient parking area that meets the sustainability and energy efficiency goals of European planning. The work, through the PASS4CORE 2 project (Parking Areas implementing Safety and Security FOR (4) CORE network corridors in ITALY PASS4CORE-ITA 2), will be co-funded by the European funding program CEF, in fact, which aims to create a widespread system of innovative parking areas for the operator experience, increasing safety and quality of services available.
The intervention includes extraordinary maintenance of the existing lot in order to create a parking area that integrates high levels of safety with services to people and is energy efficient. The result will be the creation of 191 total stalls, including 165 for trucks, 14 dedicated to vans and 12 for cars, to which will be added the extraordinary maintenance of the existing facilities, to provide drivers with quality services and comfortable spaces.
The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2024.
