On June 18–19, 2025, Interporto Bologna took part in the General Assembly of the European project TRANSCEND, successfully held in Luxembourg. The meeting marked a key moment to assess the project’s progress and strengthen collaboration among international partners.
The first day, hosted at the University of Luxembourg, began with a welcome by Laura Palacios-Arguello (LCL), followed by an opening speech from Doris Neumann, Project Officer at the European Research Executive Agency (REA). Discussions focused on recent project developments, including the Common Framework for ecosystem and resilience analysis, process mining, and the design of the future TRANSCEND Control Tower.
In the afternoon, the consortium hosted the public event “Enhancing Transport Resilience: Policy Insights on CER and NIS2”, which brought together key stakeholders from Luxembourg and Spain. The event addressed emerging threats to freight transport in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, with contributions from representatives of the European Commission, HCPN, CNPIC, ILR, and ZLC.
The second day took place at Cargolux headquarters, where partners discussed communication strategies, project management, and exploitation plans. A site visit to the Cargo Centre, operated by LuxCargo Handling, offered valuable insights into the operations of Europe’s seventh-largest air freight logistics hub.
Interporto Bologna’s participation in this important event reaffirms its active role in the TRANSCEND project, which aims to enhance the resilience and protection of critical freight transport infrastructures across Europe. Funded by the European Union, the project is developing an integrated set of technological tools, operational guidelines, and digital solutions to prevent, manage, and mitigate physical, cyber, and hybrid threats. At the heart of the initiative is the creation of an advanced digital platform — the TRANSCEND Control Tower — designed to provide real-time, shared visibility of risks and foster cooperation among logistics operators, authorities, and stakeholders.
