On April 4th Consorzio IB Innovation, spin off of Interporto Bologna dedicated to R&D, presented Clusters 2.0 project at DocksTheFuture (co-funded project by Horizon 2020 Programme) Mid-term conference in Trieste. The conference, titled “Envisioning the Port of the Future: the 2030 Horizon”, gave an overview on DocksTheFuture project results achieved thus far, validating concepts, topics and targets for the Port of the Future, including also the input of other projects dealing with ports. Consorzio IB Innovation was invited to the conference to present Clusters 2.0 objectives and results and how the innovations developed in the project can contribute to design the Port of the Future.
Cluster 2.0 project, financed by Horizon 2020 Programme, has the main objective to leverage synergies among European Logistics Clusters to create an efficient and fully integrated transport system, while keeping neutral the environmental and local impacts. Consorzio IB Innovation (IBI), with the technological support of DBA Lab, is leader of a work package for the creation of an IT platform, named Cluster Community System (CluCS), able to leverage synergies between logistics and intermodal nodes through the efficient management of information and operations. In particular, during the conference IBI presented the platform explaining its functionalities and how it can be a very useful tool to design the Port of the Future: CluCS could contribute to the efficient management of information and operations about cargo flows and assets within ports and different logistics nodes allowing a coordinated management of multiple hubs with different specializations, creating synergies and linking the Clusters to different TEN-T corridors.
