Since 2017 Consorzio IB Innovation, a spin-off company of Interporto Bologna dedicated to research and development activities, is engaged in the implementation of the European project Clusters 2.0 (http://www.clusters20.eu/) funded by the Horizon2020 program with deadline April 2020.
The objective of Clusters 2.0 is to exploit the full potential of European logistics networks (European Logistics Clusters) to achieve a perfectly integrated and efficient European transport system that does not impact the environment.
The European logistics centres involved in the project are:
PLAZA (Zaragoza), Duisport (Duisburg), Dourges (Lille), Interporto Bologna/Porto di Trieste (Bologna-Trieste), BruCargo (Brussels), Heathrow (London), PCT (Pireaus), Port (Trelleborg).
The commitment of Consorzio IBI is focused on the creation of an IT platform able to connect different logistics and intermodal platforms, in order to improve their functionality and productivity through a software that allows an efficient and coordinated management of information.
The next Executive Board meeting will be held in Barcelona on 20/21 September, during which we will take stock of the progress of the project and the software being implemented.
The project foresees that the software, called CluCS (Cluster Community System), will be initially tested in the railway and road connections between the Interporto of Bologna and other logistic nodes of the Emilia Romagna region, and then be extended to the Trieste area forming the so-called Cluster.
