Consorzio IB Innovation, spin-off of Interporto Bologna dealing with research and development, is a partner of the CORE project ("Consistently Optimized Resilient Resilient Secure Global Supply Chains" www.coreproject.eu), funded by the European Commission under the FP7 programme.
The objective of the project, which involves more than 70 partners across Europe, is to consolidate, amplify, extend and demonstrate knowledge, skills and cooperation for the security of logistics chains, while maintaining and developing business performance.
Consorzio IBI is responsible for the FALACUS demonstrator (FAst-LAne to CUSstoms) that, thanks to the collaboration with Ceramiche Caesar, has allowed to test the applications developed within CORE along the logistics chain of the ceramic sector from Italy to the USA. The objective of the project is to guarantee high safety standards in a collaborative environment along the logistics chain to the stakeholders involved (logistics and transport operators, freight forwarders and exporting companies).
The demo phase began on March 12th with the departure of two containers from Ceramiche Caesar's headquarters in Spezzano di Fiorano and will end in mid-April with the arrival of the containers at Cermiche Caesar's US headquarters in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, within the new U. S. ceramic district.
The stakeholders involved in the demonstrator, in addition to Consorzio IBI and Ceramiche Caesar, are Interporto Bologna, Sogemar, La Spezia Container Terminal and Kuehne Nagel.
