Rail traffic at Bologna Freight Village continued to grow substantially in November, underlining the importance of the Bologna infrastructure in the national and international transport of goods by rail.
Compared to a year ago, trains increased by 49% and wagons by 37%.
This positive trend in the rail sector has been stationary for three months, with trains up 45.3% in September and +49.9% in October, and wagons up 35.3% in September and 37.9% in October, and can only increase given the projects set to start early next year.
As of 11 January 2021, indeed, a new TX Logistics international connection will be active with five train pairs per week between Bologna Interporto and the TKN north terminal in Cologne, which will be accompanied by further train connections to southern Italy.
The growth recorded in almost all months of 2020 compared to 2019 leads to a cumulative January-November 2020 growth of 26% for trains and 13% for rail wagons.
The truck sector is also growing, albeit to a much reduced extent. Compared to 2019, lorries were up 5% in November 2020.
The figures clearly speak for themselves. As of this year, rail transport is driving transport growth at Interporto Bologna.
