While the road sector is essentially stationary compared to last year, rail freight transport already shows the efforts of the careful work by Interporto Bologna for its rail relaunch at the beginning of 2019.
In March 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, there was in fact a 23% increase in the number of trains arriving and departing at the terminals of the Bologna hub, corresponding to 52 more trains.
The number of railway wagons moved shows as well positive signs and in this case the growth is even more marked (+43% compared to March 2018).
This highlights the fact that longer trains begun to pass through the Bologna freight terminal.
Moving on to the analysis of the economic dynamics, there is further confirmation of this growth.
From one month to the next, as happened also in February compared to January, both the total number of trains and the number of wagons show a growth of 11% for the former and 12.5% for the latter.
The new railway connections activated between the summer of 2018 and the beginning of this year, as well as the consolidation of existing routes, are the result of a commitment of Interporto Bologna on several fronts aimed at pursuing one of its strategic objectives for the next three years, its positioning in the national and international market according to its natural vocation as a "gateway" to Europe for long-distance.
The results show that we are moving in the right direction.
