In spite of the difficult situation that has affected all national and international sectors, 2020 ended with positive figures for Bologna Freight Village, underlining the fact that the logistics sector has responded to the difficulties without hesitation, proving to be a resilient sector.
At the road level, traffic figures remained stationary despite some critical months in which contractions of up to 30% were recorded, but from September onwards the trend returned to positive levels, recording a growth of 9% in December 2020 and allowing the year to end with an almost stationary annual total (about -3%).
The rail sector is showing very positive signs. The number of trains increased by 44% in December compared to a year ago, and the annual total (+27%) is the result of a trend with very high values in almost all months of the year, with peaks of up to 68%.
Rail wagons follow the same trend as the number of trains. In December 2020, they increased by 27% compared to the same period last year. The yearly accumulation shows a positive sign compared to 2019.
