This new service marks the rebirth of international connections from Bologna, connecting two extremely important geographical areas in the European economic panorama.
The train will arrive at Zeebrugge, one of the largest ports in the Benelux, directly on the dock of the Cobelfret group. From here, the ITUs can be embarked directly, without the need for expensive shunting, to the various daily destinations in the UK and in Scandinavian countries.
The frequency of the new connection will reach 3 circulations per week by the end of the year, with the aim of becoming daily in the course of 2019.
The total capacity will be 34 train ITUs, which will also have the possibility to make gateways for the connections to and from Bari with the already existing tri-weekly service.
The Bologna - Zeebrugge train is in fact the natural prosecution of the Bari - Bologna service developed with GTS since January 2017 and it will allow all operators to cover southern and northern Europe and also reach the United Kingdom.
From Bari, there is also the possibility to embark with the RoRo naval services directed to Greece and Turkey.
The railway service is developed by GTS RAIL on the Italian side and by BLS on the international side.
