Cloud computing provides numerous advantages to the logistics business sector.
On 23-24th September a meeting of the European project LOGICAL was held in Leipzig (Germany) to begin the test phase on the cloud platform developed within the project. Several companies in Central Europe are now able to test the LOGICAL logistics cloud and its services.
With the LOGICAL Cloud, we set new standards that provide regional companies numerous opportunities for joint business, said Prof. Dr. Uwe Arnold, cluster manager of Leipzig-Halle logistics cluster (project coordinator). Small and medium-sized companies in the partners' regions will receive support for the integration in the cloud.
Many software applications are already available for testing, e.g. the fleet and warehouse management or the financial accounting.
The platform also serves as an online marketplace for the companies to showcase their services.
Data exchange within the platform is already functioning: logisticians are now able to share information on short trips and available storage space in a simple manner.
Additionally, a digitalization of shipping documents is provided by the cloud in order to relieve the companies from complex paperwork.
The platform's complete data management takes place in Germany and meets the highest safety standards.
