The 4th Meeting of the CAMARG project (Clusters of innovative zero-km Agrofood MARketplaces for Growth) was held on 04 and 05 October 2018, hosted by the Cluster of agro-food Innovation in Granada and the Multi-Sector Innovative Business Association for Smart Cities - Andalusia Smart City Cluster, project partners.
The Project is funded by the European MED programme and Consorzio IB Innovation, a spin-off of Interporto Bologna, is Lead partner. The aim of the meeting is to encourage the meeting between supply and demand of quality agri-food products at zero kilometer by testing and validating an advanced E-commerce solution, adaptable to various contexts, starting from the regional ones of the area, with a view to ensuring support to small producers in the territories of the MED area characterized by such excellent agri-food products.
During the meeting the state of the art of the project activities was presented and the future steps discussed, but the meeting was also an opportunity to visit some local model companies. CESURCA SCA (Centro Sur SCA) which operates in the sector of production, processing and marketing of green asparagus from Huétor Tájar (Granada): they aim at the recognition of a local quality product and the promotion of Granada as a territorial brand. By participating in the CAMARG project they are sure to cover the importance of marketing high quality products and give support to the primary sector.
CASA RUFINO SL, born as a family business dedicated to pastry making, is now a renowned local fruit and vegetable processing company (Granada and Costa) and the quality of its products, without food preservatives or colorants, relies on the production of various types of conventional but also very innovative fruit jams. CAMARG project could be for them an opportunity to re-evaluate local products and transform quality products by offering and promoting to representatives of the hotel and catering sector, especially Chefs, new product combinations and new combinations of dishes also through training and showcooking in public spaces.
AGROISA GROUP, a national and international family business that provides auxiliary services to the agri-food sector, offers tailor-made processing equipment mainly for the olive sector. It supports crushers by providing innovation and technology in their plants with new processing processes. Trusting CAMARG project they would provide support to small and medium enterprises in the province of Granada, the motivation to collaborate in the marketing of products at the local level, ensuring their commercial and environmental sustainability.
