On Monday 17th June a new intermodal connection will start, connecting Bologna freight village with the port of Trieste, a service joining the already consolidated maritime relations with the ports of La Spezia and Livorno.
This new intermodal combined maritime service will be operated by Alpe Adria and, with the traction borne by Mercitalia Rail, starts with two weekly circulations and is open to all transport operators.
This new railway relationship represents a further step towards the consolidation of Interporto Bologna as a "railway gateway" connecting both northern Europe and central-southern Italy, and with the ports near the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Adriatic Sea.
